Bi-Fuel Kohler Equipment

Bi-fuel Kohler  Equipment

Kohler offers a diverse range of bi-fuel equipment, including generators and engines. Bi-fuel Kohler diesel equipment is designed to run on a combination of diesel and natural gas. New bi-fuel generators use Kohler’s advanced Digital Voltage Regulator (DVR) technology to increase operational efficiency, lower emissions, and longer run time.

Currently, Kohler offers new bi-fuel generators with a 25 kW to 400 kW power output to provide backup power for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Kohler’s dual-fuel engines are used in oil and gas drilling rigs, fracking operations, mining operations, and power generation.

While Kohler may offer a custom solution for facilities with higher power needs, retrofitting a new or existing diesel-only engine is more cost-effective.

Bi-fuel Kohler Diesel Equipment /Generators

Companies and facilities using fixed, constant-speed Kohler diesel engines can retrofit and convert them to bi-fuel by installing an OptiBlend® converter kit. OptiBlend® kits enable gensets with 200kW to 2,000kW power output to run on diesel fuel and natural gas.

The fuel blending kit comprises valves, filters, mixers, regulators, and fuel control systems that enable diesel-only generators to run on a combination of fuels. OptiBlend® kits are easy to install and don’t require internal engine modifications.

Retrofitting enables facilities to use various gaseous fuels including natural gas, methane, wellhead gas, propane, biomethane, and low/high BTU methane.

Bi-fuel Kohler Diesel Equipment & OptiBlend®

OptiBlend® is a premium fuel blending system that enables facilities to retrofit new or existing Kohler diesel-only generators into a dual-fuel system. The OptiBlend® conversion kit is easy to install and is compatible with many different sizes and models of Kohler gensets.

Here are three example use cases of Kohler + OptiBlend® kits:

  • Medical facilities: A medical center in Miami, Florida, converted its Kohler 500RE0ZJB to a dual-fuel system using an OptiBlend® retrofit kits. The retrofitted bi-fuel generator safeguards the facility against power outages and ensures seamless operations 24/7/365.
  • Apartment complexes: An apartment complex used an OptiBlend® kit to convert a Kohler KD1000kW diesel generator to dual-fuel. The bi-fuel capability delivers massive cost-saving benefits while ensuring power outages don’t inconvenience residents.
  • Humanitarian Societies: The Humane Society in Florida retrofitted a Kohler 500REOZJB genset with an OptiBlend® kit. The efficient dual-fuel system creates a safe environment for the animals, employees, and customers. The facility remains unaffected by power outages resulting from hurricanes and other natural disasters.
